Laughs in the (Distant) Past

Since its beginning, the MDs have put on christmas shows every year without fail since the late 1800s. Take a look at some of our past successes in our show archive:

Established in 1898 (or most likely earlier) on the wards of the Middlesex Hospital, a group of medical students performed to patients to provide some Christmas cheer. Uninterrupted during  the years of the Great War, this continued until 1930 when the first theatrical concert took place in the Courtauld Institute. During 1940 & 1941, no concert took place at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School (MHMS) due to medical students being evacuated to Aylesbury, but concerts took place here instead. The 'Manic Depressives' were first mentioned as such by 1950, and by the mid 50s, the annual Christmas Concerts had grown to full scale theatrical productions.
